![]() Then I realized you can expand the driver list in the upper left to show strategies. I used to constantly leapfrog between whoever was just ahead/behind of my drivers to see their strategy. Shadowing the AI is a good place to start for sure. (.and then your driver makes a massive flat spot! Damn you, Chu!!) It seems like the trick early on is to pick the right time to switch driving style back to neutral so your tyre degredation coincides with when you want to pit the first time. If you don't do the same you are likely to end up stuck behind some slow driver in the back of the grid for most of the race. Nearly every AI starts on the softest allowed compound and keeps engine mode and driving style in the red until the tyres are at 80%+ temperature. So going full red and block is the only way to go with my car. If a fast driver passes me during the first 1-2 laps he is able to gain such a huge gap that I never ever can catch up whatever I do. And at least you're involved in some fighting action. Like this I'm sometimes able to get to the podium with the worst car and one of the worst drivers. But this only works if you can go full speed at the end. Timing is crucial since it's possible to catch drivers in the last lap. Most of the time you don't even fill up the whole tank to be able to use the highest engine setting until the end. When the last stint comes I can go full red and pass a few drivers that have to conserve fuel and tires. Sometimes it's better to be able to stay in front of some folks so I compromise the last stint a bit. During the 2nd stint I try to manage my engine so that I can go full red for the whole last stint. When the drivers behind (the ones I'm fighting for position) catch up to me they usually have already destroyed their 2nd set of tires and as before I can kind of block them a bit. This gives me a first pit stop which is 1-2 laps later. The AI uses the softer tires most of the time but cannot pass (at least most cannot) so they end up following me, destroying their tires while not being able to use their full potential. I usually start with harder tires and full red. But you need to get the engine reliability to 80-100% to really make it work. But using the highest engine mode is quite effective. I'm playing with predator and have by far the worst car and the worst drivers.
